Once upon a time, there was a little girl. She did not talk much, she did not listen much either. This made some things difficult, at least for those around her. She was always told she had an attitude but she could not help that she was always right and could do anything. She saw everything as an obstacle in her way. The world was confusing, she did not understand why everyone seemed to stop her from being happy. She was never able to find her place in the world. So she created her own world as she saw it, as it should be.
I find other peoples’ worlds to be confusing, overwhelming, full of sadness and disappointment. Undoubtedly my own world is a reaction or reflection of the worlds around me but none the less a world I understand. Through the manipulation of materials and color, I am able to not only aesthetically communicate my own thoughts but I am able to surround my self with them, creating a space to live in.
